It's been almost two weeks since the eighth season finale of Death In Paradise aired on television. And while two weeks is pretty much a short time for some, avid fans and viewers of the show cannot wait any longer to know when will the ninth series be back.

As it happens, there is no confirmation yet whether it will be renewed or canceled. However, many people claim that it is quite impossible to cancel the show considering the high and significant audience ratings on the previous seasons. And with Death In Paradise's 8 up to 9 million apparent weekly viewers, cancellation is not a matter to be discussed as what the fans would believe.

Another thing to point out is that there are already a few hints as to what would happen come the ninth series of the show. Digital Spy shared that all of the previous seasons have a certain formula that they follow. And there is a huge chance that season 9 will follow the same pattern.

The publication also added that each episode of the upcoming series would start with a "pre-credit sequence" scene that will show the events leading to the ultimate murder of the season.

Additionally, there are speculations that Death In Paradise season 9 will feature a much darker theme and tone just like the prior season. According to one of the stars, the eighth series came as a surprise to everyone in the production. "It's really dark," the Ruby actress stated.

And with this apparent tone that caught many fans' attention last season, there is a huge possibility as well that the upcoming season will follow the same setting.

Although everyone, especially the DiP fans, is still waiting for further confirmation about the release date, there are claims from Otakukart that the filming will already start this Spring season. Accordingly, this will follow the usual release date of Death In Paradise which is normally around January. So, fans are assuming that season 9 will most likely air on January 2020.

For the casting, there will be a few minor changes in the line-up according to iNews. The publication stated that the lead stars of the series, Ardal O'Hanlon, and Toby Bakare, will return on the ninth series. The same is true for Shyka Amos, Don Warrington, and Elizabeth Bourgine. And while Joséphine Jobert will no longer be part of the upcoming season, she will be replaced by Aude Legastelois as DS Madeleine Dumas.
