There have been a number of Godzilla remakes over the years but the legend of the mutated creature continues to amaze viewers around the world. With that in mind, 2019 will bring yet another installment of the Japan-originated story.
In Godzilla: King of Monsters, somebody will take center stage in the flick. Fans are used to having the huge beast as the focal element of the plot but this time, another brute will share the spotlight. That somebody is none other than King Ghidorah.
What makes the movie distinct from the past segments is the fact that the storyline is somehow connected to the previous installment. The 2014 picture Godzilla have some sequences that will be parlayed into the impending film.
Although it is always the king monster winning in the end, the twist in the story can be both interesting and enjoyable to watch. The showdown will be between four beasts. Godzilla will be pitted against three equally horrendous monsters.
The three-headed King Ghidorah tops the list of antagonists. Then there is Rodan the flying freak and the giant insect Mothra. It is highly likely that the fight scenarios between all four will be epic. Compared to Gareth Edwards' 2014 segment, the upcoming film will have an impressive showing.
Godzilla: King of Monsters will bring back the mutated brute in a time that the world is once again threatened. Although the protagonist animal is itself a risk to mankind, its presence is certainly a welcome element to repel the looming destruction brought by the three beasts.
The re-emergence of Godzilla as a sequel is sort of a first in the United States. The initial film back in 1998 has been a disappointment which is why no follow-up production surfaced. Although the 2014 movie has performed below expectations, it is entertaining enough to rake in around $530 million across the globe.
With such kind of show, a sequel was conceived five years later and Godzilla: King of Monsters is it. Although the flick is almost here, the sequel has been marred by changes in its release schedule. The original premiere date is supposed to be in June 2018 but Kong: Skull Island was given priority. Now, the film will be shown in May 2019 together with powerhouse flicks like John Wick 3 and Aladdin.
Due to its violent and chaotic sequences, Godzilla 2 has been given a PG-13 rating which is enough for younger viewers to enjoy the movie. The grade is pretty much the same for the latest King Kong franchise and the 2014 Godzilla.
The Warner Bros-distributed King of Monsters franchise will feature a cast that includes Vera Farmiga, Bradley Whitford, Millie Bobby Brown, and Kyle Chandler. Michael Dougherty has co-written and directed the sequel.
