Hulu just released a new comedy series titled Shrill in its streaming platform on March 15. The show actually consists of six half-an-hour long episodes and nothing further. And for those viewers who have already finished binge-watching Annie's desires to change her attitude and perspective in life, the questions about its second season are already on the rise.

So, will there be a second season for Annie?

Apparently, Shrill is based on a stand-alone paperback written by Lindy West. In the book, the full title of the cover is Shrill: Notes From A Loud Woman and it has the same premise as what is shown in the series. As it happens, the first season that has been released recently has already covered the whole book. And because of this, many viewers believe that the show has already wrapped up its plot and story.

On the other hand, Otakukart mentioned that there are series that are originally based on books but ended up adding new plots and storylines for the purpose of season renewals. Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects, for instance. So, it is quite hard to conclude that the show will not be renewed for a second season.

In addition, plots and storylines like the one that Shrill follows are quite easy to follow-up with additional contents. The sequel may focus on Annie's total transformations or her setbacks. In short, the possibility is endless. Besides, it's still too early to conclude, Otakukart contends.

By and large, the plot of Shrill follows a young fat woman who wants to change her life. But this "change" is not the kind that focuses on physical attributes.

Annie, who is an aspiring journalist, battles with a lot of factors that surround her on a daily basis due to her weight. For that matter, the people that surround her do not believe in her. They see her not good enough because of her physical characteristics.

But while everyone seems to bring her down most of the time, this made her realize that she's no different than the others. And by this time, she hopes to change this kind of perspective and act on it for herself.

The release of Shrill only occurred on March 15 and not everyone has decided to watch it already. So, there is still a lot of time for the creators and the streaming platform, Hulu, to decide whether to renew it or not. And until then, viewers would need to wait.
