The tale of the Durrell family will continue on The Durrells Season 4, but it will be the last time fans will see the clan on the small screen. But before that happens, Louisa (Keeley Hawes), Lawrence (Josh O'Connor), and the rest of the gang will return to Corfu to make fans laugh for the last time.
There will be a two-year time jump on The Durrells Season 4 as the family will spend their remaining time on the Greek Island of Corfu. In an interview with Hawes, via Radio Times, the 43-year-old star revealed the new season would be "dark" as the family's serene life would be interrupted by the start of World War Two.
"It gets a little bit dark for the Durrells, which has always been a light and lovely show," Hawes told the publication. "The war is approaching, and they have to deal with that - as indeed the Durrells themselves did."
But despite the dark times, The Durrells Season 4 would also feature Louisa and the Greek taxi driver Spiros' (Alexis Georgoulis) blooming romance. The two have admitted they have feelings for each other. Although things might go wrong between them, fans would see how their relationship would survive.
Hawes tried not to spill the beans what would happen between Spiros and Louisa on The Durrells Season 4 but teased something big is about to occur at the end of the series. And as it would be the show's final outing, she also hinted it would be the best installment as "everything was thrown at it."

The love triangle between Louisa, Spiros, and his wife would reportedly be an integral part of The Durrells Season 4. Fans have to see how Spiros would handle this big issue in front of him.
Hawes would surely return on The Durrells Season 4 to reprise her role as Louisa, along with O'Connor as Larry. Also, Daisy Waterstone would make a comeback as Margo, Callum Woodhouse as Leslie, Milo Parker as Gerry, and, of course, Georgoulis as Spiros.
ITV has yet to announce The Durrells Season 4's official release date, but it is expected to be out in spring. As the show's previous seasons aired in March and April, the new installment might follow the same schedule.
