After nine years of no installment update, the Toy Story franchise is now returning for its fourth installment. While it took almost a decade before Disney has decided it's time to release a new film for the franchise, fans of Toy Story are even more eager to learn what will happen next to the most popular toys of all time in television. So, what should we expect in Toy Story 4?
As it appears, Toy Story 4 is set to premiere on June 21, 2019, which is only a few months away. And this could mean that fans of the film may avoid the spoilers much easier.
Originally, the fourth installment of the Toy Story franchise is reported to be released in 2017. However, production took longer than expected, according to Radio Times. And the most apparent reason behind is that almost three-fourths of the original script were omitted when the original screenwriters, Rashida Jones, and Will McCormack, withdrew their positions months before the set release date.
But as for the years in between Toy Story 3's release date and Toy Story 4's supposed premiere date, it has been revealed that the creators of the film made a "pinky promise" that they will not release a new installment of the franchise unless they found a worthy story, John Lasseter, the Disney Chief Creative Officer explained. And thankfully, they have found one which is now ready to be shared to the whole Toy Story fandom.
In terms of the plot, Pixar revealed that they consider the fourth installment as a "standalone" movie in the franchise. Even so, Toy Story 4 will still take place based on the plots of its prior films.
As everyone would recall it, Toy Story 3 ended with 17-year-old Andy giving all his toys to six-year-old Bonnie. And this gave a new purpose to the toys. Accordingly, Toy Story 4 is believed to show what happens after this series of events.
The main characters of the film, Woody and Buzz Lightyear will certainly return for the fourth installment along with the other toys in the previous films. Bo Peep is also revealed to make its return in which the plot takes its focus on since Woody will be on an adventure to find her after several years of being separated.
Other information about the plot has not yet been revealed. But there are a few teaser trailers already circulating in various media. So, avid fans may no longer get any details about Toy Story 4 and are expected to wait until the film drops on the theaters.
