Sherlock Holmes 3 is official with no title yet, a currently planned 2021 release date and more details to follow, but the investigation regarding the third film of Sherlock Holmes shows a plot twist for the very competent private detective and his loyal assistant. In Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Holmes, and Watson traveled across Europe with a Gypsy adventuress to foil an intricate plot by their cunning nemesis, Professor Moriarty, to instigate a war.
At the end of the film, Holmes was supposedly dead, but Watson receives a package containing a breathing device of Mycroft's that Holmes had noticed and expressed a liking for before the summit. Realizing that Holmes may still be alive, Watson left his office to find the delivery man, but Holmes concealed himself in Watson's office and read Watson's memoirs on the typewriter. Sherlock then adds a question mark after the words "The End" as it hints for a sequel.
A new adventure awaits the duo and as per the sequel's update, the third movie might be set in America's Old West and possible time-travel will happen in order to solve another case. With the reprising roles of Robert Downey Jr. as the so-called leading role and Jude Law as the reliable assistant, Dr. John Watson, Sherlock Holmes 3 will once again relive the detectives-at-heart.
For the bookworms out there who follows around with them their Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle's novels and magnifying glass, Sherlock Holmes was indeed his prized creation as he wrote over fifty short stories featuring the famous detective. The Sherlock Holmes stories are generally considered milestones in the field of crime fiction.
Sherlock Holmes has been going around Europe as his hometown and network for his cases, however, this time in Sherlock Holmes 3, he will be expanding his career and be introduced to more diverse criminals and cases to solve. Filming has already started which was set to in the Old West in the United States, specifically San Francisco, California.
The supposed time-jump plot was inspired by Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle's fondness to America and its icons such as Harry Houdini who was a Hungarian-born American illusionist and stunt performer, noted for his sensational escape acts.
The plot idea of Sherlock Holmes 3 which was allegedly dated back on the timeframe of the 'old west' in America, from 1865 to 1895 was also assumed to be because of Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle's stories that took place in the years between 1880 and 1914.
However, neither Richard Downey, Jr. nor Jude Law has something to say for the third film, only that it is expected to be "the best among its series." Sherlock Holmes 3 was supposed to premiere in December 2020, contrary to that Warner Bros. decided to reserve that slot for another movie pushing Downey and Law's flick's release date to Dec. 21, 2021.
