Jimmy Butler has been quietly doing his thing with the Philadelphia 76ers although this will not stop pundits from speculating his move come NBA Free Agency. In fact, there are some who believe he could be headed to a different team next season with the Lakers loudly being suggested.

There is no question that Butler would be a solid addition to the Lakers. This is if his talent is to be a basis. But considering he has gone through three different NBA teams where he has had rifts, it is a gamble that team president Earvin "Magic" Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka will have to factor in, the Silver Screen and Roll said.

The Lakers are in need of someone who can light it up from outside. However, one facet of Butler's game is his defense. It leaves a lot to be desired, meaning should he sign with the purple and gold, the next problem Los Angeles may face is the 29-year-old becoming a potential liability on the defensive end.

One can just imagine the firepower and help Butler would bring to aid LeBron James. But can both NBA stars co-exist? That is a question most would take into account.

Seeing however how James has found a way to jive with the likes of J.R. Smith and Lance Stephenson, all that may be easily addressed. It all depends on how both cagers get on the same page.

If not the Lakers, the Nets could be a plausible choice as well. Brooklyn has been quietly on the rise with Kenny Atkinson's philosophy bearing fruit. But similar to the Sixers and past teams, can Butler get along with the young cagers who lack maturity?

D'Angelo Russell, curiously a former Laker, has undoubtedly broken out of his shell with the Nets. From afar, forming a tandem with Butler could do wonders for as long as both keep their heads in check. If there is something that both have in common, it is the fact that they are not exactly the good boys both on and off the court. They have had their share of tantrums and that could be a cause of conflict from within.

Aside from the Lakers and the Nets, there are more teams who could pitch to Butler in the summer. The Sixers will have the first crack so it all really depends on what Butler wants. He has had his run-ins with Joel Embiid in Philly, so everything hinges on how Sixers management assesses the whole situation.
