One Direction's Harry Style just can't avoid being a K-pop follower himself as he has recently been discovered by his fans to have followed BLACKPINK's Jennie on Instagram.
The British heartthrob has been known to be a not-so-frequent user of social media and is rarely seen online gave his fans a shocking revelation that he is also a fan and wants to be updated with the latest trend in the K-pop madness.
BLACKPINK has recently announced their comeback mini album and its new single Kill This Love, packed with international opportunities, a first-ever number at the Coachella music festival by an all-female K-pop group, before continuing the North American, European, and Australian legs of their first world tour.
Not to mention Jennie of BLACKPINK's trending blondie look, it was made to be the catch for their newly released mini album and single Kill This Love.
Maybe it's not the new look that interests the English singer that made him follow Jennie's Instagram account @jennierubyjane, but it was the overwhelming attention that BLACKPINK's has been receiving these past few months, that seems to be quite intriguing and contagious. BLACKPINK is now a global trend, not only in social media but it shows on their concert's sold out tickets and the response of their "BLINKs" is just too good to be true.
BLACKPINK is now the female version of BTS and this K-pop group which started way back 2016, has been breaking records as Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa dance and sing their way, now on their world tours. And these are all because of their strong fan base the "BLINKs" who have been growing in numbers and has been widespread all over the world. BLACKPINK's song Ddu-Du Ddu-Du is currently the most-watched music video by a K-pop group on Youtube, boasting 730 million views.
The group's social media followings are also breaking records. Lisa, the group's main dancer, and youngest member is the most-followed female K-pop artist on Instagram with more than 16 million followers while Jennie follows through with 14 million to date.
This phenomenon just explains how famous each of the BLACKPINK girls is now and how it is possible that the South Korean girl group has captured the attention of the award-winning English-Irish pop boy band based in London. BLACKPINK who "looks sweet, but don't act like it" has fewer than 20 tracks since their debut in 2016, however, because of their unique choreography, their fierceness in trying out new concepts, bold rapping and powerful singing coupled with their fabulous styles, this promising group have already been a trend followed by their fellow K-pop idols as well.
