China stated that it wants to work out the issues with the EU concerning trade and climate change. This was revealed by Premier Li Keqiang ahead of the China-EU summit that will be held on April 9.

Prior to the summit, the EU held a meeting to write the agenda for the summit tomorrow. The leaders of the European Union discussed the things to be tackled in preparation for the upcoming meeting.

EU President Donald Tusk said that the goal for the China-EU summit is to create balanced relations among the members and ensure a fair trade competition.

"Our aim is to focus on achieving a balanced relation, which ensures fair competition and equal market access. In this context, we hope to persuade China to include industrial subsidies as a crucial element of the WTO reform," Tusk said via press release.

The 21st China-EU summit will be co-hosted by European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. It was said that High Representative Federica Mogherini will be at the event.

The Commission and the High Representative further said in a joint statement that the EU and the members of the organization will not be able to effectively attain their goals with China if there will be no unity among the states involved. Thus, making sure that harmony is in place will yield better results for the China-EU summit.

China is also willing to its part for the success of the meetings. In fact, Reuters reported that Premiere Li wrote a column in a German newspaper. He mentioned China's intentions of solidifying its ties with the EU, especially over trade.

In German's Handelsblatt paper, the Chinese Premier also refuted the allegations that China was intending to divide the bloc through investing in eastern European states.

"We emphatically support the European integration process in the hope of a united and prosperous Europe," Li said. "Beijing's close cooperation with eastern European states was advantageous for a balanced development within the EU."

Finally, Premier Li further mentioned that China will work closely with Europe in its efforts with advocating the Paris Climate Agreement. Beijing will also support sustainable development and would hold the international nuclear agreement with Iran and in the fight with terrorism.

Until now, the EU is China's biggest partner in trade so the summit is expected to boost its partnership and further improve the bilateral connection for better economy and peace.
