Famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for his accurate Apple device leaks, has recently updated his predictions and changed the date he expects the new devices to be released.
Earlier, Kuo released a research note (via MacRumors) outlining what he expects the Cupertino tech giant to release in 2019. These devices include the iPad, Macbook and Mac, alongside the new iPhones, Apple Watch and several other Apple releases.
Now, Kuo has released another report that features a new and more reasonable release date for some of these Apple devices.
According to a report from Chinese news website Economic Daily News (translated via MacRumors), Kuo now expects Apple to release the new iPad between the fourth quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021, and the new Macbook Pro during the first half of 2021.
The iPad is expected to feature a 10- to 12-inch display, which is believed to use Mini-LED backlight design. Cult Of Mac reports that this display consumes less battery power, but offers a wider color range and is capable of higher resolution graphics.
The MacBook Pro, on the other hand, will feature a display with an undetermined size. While The Verge reports that it's going to be a 16-incher, others report that it's going to be between 15- to 17-inches. Kuo earlier said it's going to be a 16- to 16.5-incher, so it's best to wait for official info before treating anything as final.
Aside from the larger MacBook Pro, Kuo said Apple is also working on a more powerful 13-inch MacBook that will replace the current model. This version is believed to feature up to a whopping 32GB of RAM.
One more important device Apple plans to release, according to Kuo, is a 31.6-inch display capable of 6K resolution. A display designed for creatives and pro users, Kuo says it will have excellent picture quality, thanks to the Mini-LED backlight design.
A failed prediction for 2019
Some might be disappointed that Apple's is delaying the release of their new devices. Some will even be more disappointed at the fact that the trusted Apple leaker Kuo himself made a mistake and had to update his predictions.
Nothing, however, will be more disappointing than what happened to Apple's promising but scrapped wireless charging mat, AirPower. Kuo predicted it would arrive this year, but it didn't.
AirPower would've been a revolutionary charging mat. Unlike current Qi charging pads that charge specific devices at specific points on the mat, AirPower would, theoretically, charge any wireless chargeable device placed anywhere on the mat.
It's cancelled, though, and fans can only feel nothing but disappointment about it.
