Now You See Me 3 has been already confirmed, but there were only a few details about it. The second installment was released in 2016, and many believed there is a three-year gap before the next movie will be released, some even speculated Now You See Me 3 will hit the cinemas in late 2019. For now, here's the latest news about the upcoming movie, including its possible release date, cast, plot, and other details.
It was announced in late 2015 that Now You See Me 3 has been on the works. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feitheimer confirmed this news, saying they've already started filming the third installment. But since then, no further details were revealed, so fans even speculated the movie had been canceled as there's no news about it.
But, it can be noted the Now You See Me was meant to be a trilogy, so it's very likely we'll get a third movie. As mentioned, the movie might be following its three-year gap; the first movie was released in 2013, while the second one hit the theaters in 2016. So it's safe to assume the third installment will arrive later in 2019.
Moving on with the cast, the main characters will surely reprise their roles including Mark Ruffalo (as Dylan Rhodes), Morgan Freeman (Thaddeus Bradley), Jesse Eisenberg (J. Daniel Atlas), Dave Franco (Jack Wilder), Michael Caine (Arthur Tressler), and Woody Harrelson (Merritt McKinney).
It's also sure Isla Fisher will not reprise her role as Henley Reeves, as the actress let go of her character in the first installment after doing a dangerous stunt that almost took her life. Fisher was replaced by Lizzy Caplan (Lula) in Now You See Me 2.
As for the new cast, reports claim Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch will be joining Now You See Me 3, although his role remains unknown. But, as per Otakukart, the actor might have an influential role in the third installment. He will likely be the villain in the upcoming film, as the antagonists in the previous movies were British.
The plot of Now You See Me 3 was not yet revealed as well, but it would probably still centers with The Four Horsemen - the criminal group of magicians. It is expected that their adventure in the next movie would be very different from the previous installments.
Meanwhile, it's unlikely Lionsgate will scrape the project, as Deadline reported writers Gavin James and Neil Widener were already tapped to work on the script back in 2016. The second installment also did well in the box office and garnered over $334 million in ticket sales around the world. With these digits, it's possible the third movie will be given a green light anytime soon. But, for now, it's better to wait until the official release date is confirmed.
