The Enemy Within episode 8 is coming out next week, and it would probably reveal how it all started for CIA Deputy Director Erica Shepherd. The next episode could reveal whom she spent time with and what led her to make a painful decision that she deemed necessary for the sake of completing her job.

According to the synopsis of The Enemy Within episode 8, flashbacks from the past reveal a fateful event which led to Shepherd (Jennifer Carpenter) betraying her own country and that the ensuing investigation also put her on a collision course with Will Keaton (Morris Chestnut).

Shepherd's story will be the focus of the upcoming episode, titled "An Offer," and this would give fans an idea of why the character acts that way. Revealing Shepherd's past at this point is also crucial for the series, especially it is already on its halfway point in the season.

Previously, viewers have recognized how dangerous Tal is (Lev Gorn), and episode 7 hints Shepherd has more connection with the character. Right now, it's important for the series to take a slow step to better understand the past and how would it affect the future of the story.

Many fans are also excited to find out the mysteries that were yet to unfold, especially since The Enemy Within is nearing its finale. Another thing is that the series is leading the viewers on the right direction to understand better how the events from the past have created a huge impact for Shepherd, which will probably be explained in The Enemy Within episode 8.

Going back to the previous episode, many believe Shepherd is teaming up with Tal the entire time. But, others think she's still aiming to take him down, though it is still uncertain of what she can do to make this happen. But as seen in episode 7, she is willing to sacrifice one innocent teenager for the benefit of many people.

Perhaps, one of the biggest questions is what would be the story of the potential season 2. Right now, there were no details about the second installment, but many believed The Enemy Within will be renewed for season 2. If ever confirmed, there were surely more stories to tell and mysteries to unfold, and maybe, it would also explore Tal's story as well.

Meanwhile, The Enemy Within episode 8 will air this coming Monday, April 15, on NBC.
