Jim Bob Duggar and wife Michelle Duggar firmly uphold their beliefs in parenthood and marriage as they bravely support the controversial movie about Abby Johnson. Unplanned is a 2019 movie adapting the memoirs of a former Planned Parenthood clinic director who became an anti-abortion activist. The film was theatrically released in the United States by Pure Flix on March 29, 2019, with a working title of Redeemed.
Because of the sensitivity of the plot, details of production was kept away from the public and TV channels did not promote the film to prevent untoward protests from abortion advocates. With the obvious message of the film, the Counting On stars has openly supported it which started from Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard who first saw the movie. After which, the couple proclaimed their opinions by agreeing on mostly by being an anti-abortion movie and encouraged their followers in social media to do the same.
Since they all have the same point of view, Michelle Duggar and husband Jim Bob posted their movie date on Instagram while posing beside the Unplanned banner. Their post was captioned as they gave a hint on what to expect from the film with their invitation to watch the movie for those 14 years old and above. The Duggars have always been reputed as conservative and considers themselves guardians and promoter of life with their oversized family.
Despite being bashed by those who oppose their belief, they stayed to be vocal and positive about everything they do. They have also been contested on their political beliefs as Jim Robert Duggar was also a politician and was a Republican member of the Arkansas House of Representatives. In addition to that, Jim Bob Duggar have always been voicing out his thoughts and has often got himself into trouble because of his support to President Donald Trump.
As expected, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's recommendation to watch Unplanned has caused opposing netizens to express their distaste with their movie preference. Some comments would say that: "This movie sends a horrible message," while one commenter says, "Just because you wouldn't get an abortion personally doesn't mean everyone can't have one." "You guys are unbelievable for supporting incorrect information about something that is none of your business," another angry follower replied, and the other one said "Educate yourself. If a woman wants or needs to get an abortion that is HER choice. Since it is HER body."
Since the time of the U.S. Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade which decriminalized abortion nationwide in 1973, abortion was already legal in several states.
