It's been months already since the renewal for Preacher Season 4 has been revealed to the public. But it is only recently that the premiere date has been announced. Fortunately for the newly converted fans of the show, the next installment is set to air in August of this year. But sadly for the whole fandom, this will be the last of it. As it appears, Season 4 will already be the final installment, Seth Rogen, the series co-creator and executive producer, revealed.
The reason behind the finality of the show is yet to be known. But about AMC's words, the network that works side-by-side with Seth Rogen and company, they shared that having the show in their line of television series is a journey that everyone looks forward to. Preacher has been one of a kind show that is unlike any other, David Madden, AMC Network's president of programming, said in an interview.
However, just like any other unique television series today, it has its starting and end points too. And for Preacher, its fourth installment will be the end. This news made the headlines just right after Seth Rogen's Point Grey Pictures signed a deal with Lionsgate. And these recent moves made by the company results for them to leave Sony Pictures Television.
As you may know, Preacher is initially created for AMC, and that will be distributed by Sony Pictures Television. But since Point Grey Pictures has already left its terms with the original distributor, there is a huge chance that these business movements and deals affected the show's standing. Nevertheless, there are still no confirmations made in public.
On another note, there is a huge possibility as well that the ratings played a huge role in the series' cancellation. As it appeared, the first season of the show came as a strong title for AMC. With an average number of 1.6 million viewers, the show has marked itself as one of the audience's favorite. However, this number eventually decreased down to its half value when the third season wrapped up. Hence, this might be one of the reasons as well why the show is finalizing already the plots come the fourth season.
But even so, fans and viewers of the show are still looking forward to the return of the series. And it has been revealed that Preacher Season 4 will premiere on August 8, on AMC.
