Derrick Rose is dealing with yet another injury in his NBA career but it seems that this will not stop the former NBA MVP from continuing his pro basketball career. In fact, there are suggestions now that he could even rejoin his original team, the Chicago Bulls, this summer.

According to D-Rose’s agent B.J. Armstrong, the 30-year-old could make a return to Chicago, a place where the All-Star guard holds dearly in his heart. However, that may all depend on what the Bulls have planned ahead, 670 The Score said.

“We'll see what the Bulls have. There's no secret, there's no doubt that in his heart, Chicago will always be there. We'll see. I don't know what the Bulls are going to do at this particular time,” said Armstrong.

Rose has not seen action since Mar. 10 where he was sidelined by an elbow injury. There is no word yet on when the first overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft will return. Should he be able to return and play ball, a return by Rose to Chicago would be nostalgic, the Bleacher Report said. However, it may not be feasible at this point – especially if the Bulls continue their preference of seeking younger and healthier players.

The 2018-19 NBA season saw the Bulls giving their younger guys more playing time over the veterans. Coach Jim Boylen took over the coaching reigns from Fred Hoiberg and somehow, adding an aging and injury-prone Rose may not make sense.

And even if Rose would rejoin his former team, there is the question of playing time. The Bulls have younger guards at the moment in Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn, two rising NBA stars who are likely to hog the playing time at the point guard position.

Adding Rose to the mix hints at a mentoring role plus some experience in the backcourt. As mentioned earlier, it all depends on what Boylen (or the Bulls coach) would have planned for the team moving forward.

Rose may eventually return to the Bulls’ fold although there is no assurance that it will happen as early as next season. The 30-year-old needs to get back on his feet first and show that he still has what it takes to keep in step with the younger NBA stars of today.

If not the Bulls, Rose could be an asset to other teams in need of a veteran guard. Most know how D-Rose struggled to find a home last season, moving from the Cleveland Cavaliers and then the Minnesota Timberwolves. The same ride is expected next NBA season.
