Poldark Season 5 will be the final outing of Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark. As the show will come to an end, fans are about to witness a major time jump as Ross faces a hopeful future but with a dark turn.
"As far as we're concerned it's going to be the last," writer Debbie Horsfield said about Poldark Season 5, per Radio Times. The previous season told the story of the final third of Winston Graham's sixth Poldark book and the whole seventh novel, titled The Four Swans and The Angry Tide, respectively.
Hence, Poldark Season 5 may be based on the eighth book, Stranger from the Sea. If this happens, the show will feature a 10-year time jump. The previous season ran until Christmas 1799 when Elizabeth Warleggan (Heid Reed) met her demise and Drake (Harry Richardson) and Morwenna's (Ellise Chappell) were married.
Poldark Season 5 may begin in 1810. Here, Ross will be around 50-years-old. In the new season's official synopsis, via Cambridgeshire Live, it will be a new century with a promise of a "hopeful future." However, the past will still cast its shadow over Cornwall.
"Following the death of Elizabeth, Ross Poldark resolves to put Westminster behind him and spend more time with the people he loves," Poldark Season 5 synopsis read. "However, when an old friend emerges with a plea for help, Ross is compelled to challenge the establishment again."
Dwight (Luke Norris) and Caroline (Gabriella Wilde) Enys will rally to join the cause in Poldark Season 5, while Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) has to overcome the dangers close to home. Also, George (Jack Farthing) tries to woo corrupt powers that influence the Empire.
It is not yet revealed who among its original cast will appear on Poldark Season 5, but there are theories the major characters will return. Of course, Turner will be back to reprise his role as Ross, along with Tomlinson. With the time jump, their looks will be tweaked by makeup and different hairstyles.
Norris, Wilde, Harry Richardson, and Elise Chappell are also expected to return as Dwight, Caroline, Drake, and Morwenna, respectively. Also, Jack Farthing will make a comeback as Poldark Season 5 villain George Warleggan. Unfortunately, fans will not see Warleggan and Christian Brassington after their characters as Heida and Osborne died in the previous season unless there will be flashbacks.
BBC already confirmed the coming of Poldark Season 5, but it has yet to reveal its official release date. However, its IMDb page noted that its first episode would be out this year after its production wrapped up in February.
