There is no denying that The Winds of Winter remains to be one of the most-awaited books up to now. George R.R. Martin announced that he is writing the book shortly after he, officially, released the A Dance with Dragons in 2011. However, it has been, more or less, eight years but GRRM, still, has no word about the official TWOT release date.
Avid followers of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series have been, patiently, waiting for The Winds of Winter for quite some time now. Fortunately, it seems like the future is brighter now that George R.R. Martin has been working so hard to finish the highly-anticipated novel. As a matter of fact, GRRM refused to appear on the remaining episodes of Game of Thrones to focus on completing the tome.
In a recent interview, George R.R. Martin revealed that he had been away from the outside world lately as he keeps his focus on The Winds of Winter. "Yeah, I've been in isolation. My loyal staff - I have a couple of them with me - have chained me to the typewriter," the 70-year-old novelist said when asked about the sixth A Song of Ice and Fire installment. "They're making me eat healthy food. (Laughs.) It's horrible!" GRRM added.
Previously, George R.R. Martin revealed that he has been hiding in a secret cabin while working on The Winds of Winter. Reports suggested that it is a private place that the Nightflyers author visits every time he needs to finish a book. In fact, GRRM was, also, reportedly, staying at the same exact location when he was writing the first installment of the Fire and Blood series, which was released last year.
Since George R.R. Martin has been working hard to, finally, finish The Winds of Winter, some fans cannot help but speculate that the sixth book of the A Song of Ice and Fire series might be released any time soon. Even reports were saying that TWOW might arrive after the finale episode of the Game of Thrones series.
In 2017, the veteran writer teased that he would release The Winds of Winter in late 2018 or early 2019. However, things did not happen the way George R.R. Martin wanted it to be. Despite this, devoted fans of the A Song of Ice and Fire series are positive that the waiting game would, soon, be over.
While it is highly possible for George R.R. Martin to release TWOW before the year ends, it is important to note that he has not confirmed anything as of yet. Hence, avid followers of the ASOIAF book series should take these unverified claims lightly until everything is proven true and correct.
