The fan-favorite biker gangs will make a return in Mayans MC Season 2 as FX renewed the show in October before Season 1 ended in November. The Sons of Anarchy spinoff series is said to be one of the network's biggest success for 2018 for maintaining having a strong viewership from start to finish.
"We couldn't be more excited to take this ride to a second season," FX President of Original Programming Nick Grad said about Mayans MC Season 2, via Screen Rant. The previous season ended with relative peace for everyone. But, it remains to be seen how long it would last.
In Mayans MC Season 2, fans can expect to see new altercations to rise with the latest storylines. However, co-creator Kurt Sutter said there is no concrete plan yet on how the new season would flow. The new season's plot is reportedly still in development, and it has only begun.
There are theories EZ's (JD Pardo) discovery that Happy (David Labrava) is the one who killed his mother will be at play in Mayans MC Season 2. With EZ's photographic memory, the reveal showed different flashbacks that led to that one fateful event. As a member of the Sons of Anarchy Redwood chapter and the Sons of Anarchy original cast member, Happy will surely bring in interesting stories in the new season.
Talking about Mayans MC Season 2, Danny Pino, who plays the role of the gang boss Miguel Galindo, admitted he didn't know what would happen in the new season, but he had some expectations. According to Pop Culture, the 45-year-old star wanted the new season to maintain its authenticity as much as possible.
"The writers are masters at manipulating not only the story but each character so that they're attuned to each character's authenticity," he said. "They're pushing for authenticity. They want to see the complexity that we all have. We all have that hero and that villain in us."
Sutter, on the other hand, previously hinted Mayans MC Season 2 might be out in the fall. He said he would be working with the show's writers at the end of January and would be back in production around the end of May.
He also wanted to have at least 16 to 18 weeks "upfront" with his writers to get a grip of Mayans MC Season 2's new story. So, Sutter revealed they would probably reveal the new season the same time Season 1 aired.
Mayans MC Season 2 is expected to have another 10 episodes just like the previous season. It's filming will begin in the spring and may be out in early September.
