The battle between the dead and the living is set in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3. After the feel-good, calm-before-the-storm scene of Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), and others in the previous episode, the Night King has arrived in the Winterfell. HBO dropped the new episode's official trailer that is teasing the dead's arrival, but it is the White Walkers or the mysterious individuals in the Crypt?

The Crypt of Winterfell had been playing a major part since the new season started. In Episode 2, there were a lot of talks of who would stay in the underground room. The burial place could be packed with kids, women, and other characters, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) wanted Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) to stay in there, but is it a safe place?

"The dead are already here," Daenerys told Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 trailer. But, is she about the White Walkers or the dead in the crypts?

A Redditor claimed, via Cosmopolitan, the dead's coming was already established in Episode 2, so Daenerys didn't have to reiterate it in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 - unless he is talking about other "dead." The Crypt of Winterfell has been holding a lot of dead bodies of the Starks' ancestors. So, is it possible that the old Starks would be rising from the dead in the next episode?

As the Night King could bring the dead to life, would he use the dead in the crypts in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 against the living Starks? In the trailer, Arya (Maisie Williams) could be seen holding a torch and running in fear, while blood dripping on her face in a stone wall that seemed to be the crypt. So from the looks of it, something is down there that would put their lives in danger.

The battle of Winterfell will finally occur in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3. The trailer showed a lot of weapons, fears, and intense turn of events as Brienne told her forces to stand their ground, while Jon Snow said: "The Night King is coming."

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 will be first of the season's "super-sized entry" as the last four episodes will run for almost 80 minutes, per Entertainment Weekly. The big battle seems to come too early as everyone expects it to be a part of the last few episodes, as HBO has been teasing it to be the show's climax.

The big battle of Winterfell "took weeks of outdoor night shoots film," per TV Line. Williams said the experience broke her as a human that she just wanted to cry, while Iain Glen, who plays as Jorah Mormont, described it as "the most unpleasant experience" he had in the show.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 will hit the small screens on Sunday, April 28, at 9 p.m. on HBO. It will be the first of the two episodes directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who also helmed Season 6's "The Battle of the Bastards" and "Hardhome."
