Avid followers of the American crime drama web television series have been waiting for its second installment for quite some time now. Netflix has not released any official details about the forthcoming sequel up to this writing, which pushed fans to create theories and predictions on what is likely to happen in the future. So, what could viewers expect in the up-and-coming Narcos: Mexico Season 2?

After the undeniable success of the first season, Netflix confirmed that Narcos: Mexico Season 2 on Dec. 5, 2018. For starters, Narcos: Mexico is a companion show of the Netflix original series titled Narcos. Developed by Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard, and Chris Brancato, the popular show focuses on the illegal drug trade in Mexico. The makers of the series want to discuss where and how the Guadalajara drug cartel began.

Speculations have it that Narcos: Mexico Season 2 would pick up where the first installment left off. Scoot McNairy is expected to take the role of agent Walt Breslin, who is a Drug Enforcement Administration agent head of Operation Layenda. He will lead an operation to take down the drug lords, who are responsible for Kiki Camarena's (Michael Peña)) death.

Most fans can recall that, in the Season 1 finale episode, Kiki was kidnapped and murdered in cold blood. His associates are expected to take avenge and give justice to his pal's unexpected death in Narcos: Mexico Season 2.

Except for Michael, other series regulars are expected to return in the upcoming Narcos: Mexico Season 2, which include Alyssa Diaz as Mika Camarena, Tenoch Huerta as Rafael Caro Quintero and Joaquin Cosio as Ernesto "Don Neto" Fonseca Carrillo. Other characters appearing in the imminent second installment also include Amado Carrillo Fuentes (Jose Maria Yazpik), Jaime Kuykendall (Matt Letscher), Butch Sears (Aaron Staton), Roger Knapp (Lenny Jacobson), Salvador Osuna Nava (Ernesto Alterio), Sofia Conesa (Tessa Ia), Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman (Alejandro Edda), Benjamin Arellano Felix (Alfonso Dosal), and Ed Heath (Clark Freeman) among others.

Netflix has not yet released details about the official storyline of the Narcos: Mexico Season 2. Hence, fans should take these speculations and predictions lightly until everything is proven true and correct.

It is rumored that the first and second installments will have the same total number of episodes -- around 10 per season. Netflix has yet to announce the official premiere date of the upcoming new season. But, rumors have it that it is likely to come out late this year or in early 2020.
