Justin Bieber is such a tease. After his surprise performance at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter has announced that he is dropping a new album soon.
Last weekend, fans went into a frenzy after Justin Bieber - who is in the midst of his indefinite hiatus from the music industry - suddenly showed up and joined singer Ariana Grande on Coachella stage for an explosive performance of his 2015 hit song, "Sorry."
"This is my first time on stage in like two years," Justin Bieber said during the closing night of this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, as quoted by Uproxx. "So I had to get my groove back, I had to get my swag back on, you know what I'm saying? Thank you so much Coachella, thank you so much to Ariana Grande... By the way: album coming soon," he added.
No further details has been released yet, but sources (via TMZ) are claiming that the "Never Say Never" hitmaker needs more time to finish the new album. He will presumably drop his new tracks sometime in 2020.
The new album marks Justin Bieber's fifth studio album and serves as the follow-up to Purpose, which was released on Nov. 13, 2015, by School Boy Records and Def Jam Recordings. Since his last album, he did not release new original material, although he has been featured on several singles such as "2U" by David Guetta and "No Brainer" by DJ Khaled.
His last full performance was also in the summer of 2017 during the "Purpose World Tour." It was at the time when he announced that he will be taking an indefinite break from music. As a result, he cancelled the 14 remaining "Purpose World Tour" shows across Asia and North America.
Though there is no reason given for suddenly cancelling the remaining dates of his world tour, sources claimed that the singer-songwriter's aggressive tour schedule has taken its toll on him. The 150 shows on six continents apparently left him feeling drained and unhappy.
"This is a guy who has had 150 shows on this tour, on six continents, over the last year and half, and he's tired," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "He needed a break and as much as he didn't want to disappoint his fans, the best decision for him was to cancel the remaining tour dates ... The tour was just really long and he was exhausted," the source explained.
