The truth is slowly coming out in the ITV drama series The Bay season 1. Following last week's penultimate episode with the arrest of Nick (played by Matthew McNulty), viewers have been left wondering about his fate.

But according to Entertainment Focus, photo teasers to The Bay season 1 finale, which airs on Wednesday, April 24, suggest that Nick might not have been holed up in jail. He was, after all, only charged for obstruction of the police investigations into Dylan's death and bail could've shortened his time.

Although Nick was caught on CCTV having an argument with Dylan on the night he was murdered, he cooperated with the police and revealed that Dylan's twin sister Holly (played by Darci Shaw) was aware of his death. Nick's statement proved that Holly lied to the police.

Meanwhile, Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong (played by Morven Christie) surrendered her badge in The Bay season 1 episode 5 after DC Med Kharim (played by Taheen Modak) found out about her ties to Sean (played by Jonas Armstrong), the stepfather of Dylan and Holly. The photo teaser, however, seemed to suggest that despite Lisa losing her job, her relationship with her own teenage children is slowly getting some healing.

ITV has been very careful about releasing the details to The Bay season finale to sustain the mystery. The network has also not yet announced if the show is getting a season 2 follow-up.

The Bay, which began its run on ITV last March 20, centers on a Family Liaison Officer (Armstrong) tasked to investigate the murder of a teenage boy (Dylan) and the disappearance of his twin sister (Holly). Armstrong, however, becomes too much invested in this case after she discovers her connection to the twin's family.

"Lisa is such a refreshingly real character - brilliant and flawed, trying to make everything work, and often failing," Christie described her character via Radio Times. "I loved Daragh's scripts, rooted in the families and community of this distinctive town."

The Bay has been compared to the critically-acclaimed series Broadchurch, which also aired on ITV from 2013 to 2017 and was remade for U.S. television. If the show will get a second season, Digital Spy speculated that it might follow in the style of Broadchurch, which focused on a new investigation every season.
