NCIS has become one of the most popular television series of today. Being on air for more than 15 years now, it only goes to show that this material from CBS just keeps on getting stronger as years go by. And Mark Harmon is seen as one of the apparent reasons for its overall success.

Since its premiere way back in 2003, Mark Harmon has been the face of NCIS. And although he keeps on emphasizing that he just got lucky to land the role of Gibbs, some people take it the other way around.

As every fan knows it, NCIS Season 16 is wrapping up soon. And recently, the show just got renewed for another installment. But while the production along with the fans is already excited for what's next, Mark Harmon revealed that he might leave NCIS for good.

This revelation has surprised a lot of people. But Mark explained what this statement is all about. He clarified that he will walk away from NCIS if see that the writers have already lost their mojo. Also, he even shared that if he walks in the writer's room and senses that they have already done everything, then this is the time that he will be ultimately done with the show.

But since NCIS has been renewed for season 17, it seemingly appears that no one is done yet. Mark Harmon further revealed that it might happen soon, but today, they are "not there yet."

It is also worth noting that the NCIS lead star proudly shared the recently impressive viewership ratings of the show. Based on numbers, he unveiled with People that the current season is receiving much better ratings than the previous ones. And for a show that has been in the industry for nearly two decades, "it's remarkable," Mark Harmon further explained.

As of the moment, Mark remains to be committed to his job as he wants to deliver "quality work" according to Celebrity Insider. But while fully committed, the lead actor also shared that he had his fair share of challenges of playing Gibbs on NCIS. And as a 67-year-old actor, he revealed that there were times before that he realized that fame and success are not really worth it.

He concluded that there is no job of any type that can replace any life's precious moment. But even so, he is still thankful for what he had and currently has.

For NCIS, the CBS show will return on April 30 after a long hiatus. And it is expected for the current season to wrap things up in May of this year.
