NCIS season 16 finale is almost near, and the title of the episode is "Daughters." As the end is approaching, what can viewers expect to Leroy Jethro Gibbs and the rest of the team?
There were previous rumors that the episode title of NCIS season 16 finale is "Alternate Twilight," but as per CarterMatt, CBS confirmed "Daughters" is the official title of the final episode. The happenings here matter to Gibbs, especially about his past meeting his present. He'll also be caught in troubles related to when he broke his own rule which is not getting personally involved in a case.
The synopsis of NCIS season 16 finale noted that Former FBI Agent Tobias Fornell pleads with Gibbs to do everything to take down local drug dealers, as well as suppliers. The reason why Tobias is doing this is that his daughter Emily Fornell has been hospitalized due to opiate overdose.
However, Gibbs is being haunted by the personal aspects of the case and also his history with vigilante justice. As mentioned, his rule is actually the one he burned after the events happened in "She" earlier this season. NCIS season 16 finale matters to him as it would probably focus on some events from his past, involving his first wife and daughter. So, this episode is crucial on his part now that Tobias and his daughter were also in the same situation.
It can be recalled that his first wife Shannon Gibbs and daughter Kelly has been murdered by a drug dealer. He lost them because of violent and dangerous people within this trade since he knows the feeling of losing a daughter, he wouldn't want Tobias to feel that as well. This will be an emotionally-charged case in NCIS season 16 finale, which could come with consequences depending on how these two characters will handle it.
Meanwhile, Ziva's storyline might not be in focus in NCIS season 16 finale. If ever there is, CarterMatt speculated it would only be a very small moment. But then, the character was mentioned in the episode "She" this season, so it's possible she'll return at some point; maybe in future seasons.
Reports also say her storyline would not end just like that and there's still something important that's going to happen. But as for this season finale, Ziva might not be in the spotlight, simply because the episode will focus on Gibbs and Tobias.
