There are only a handful of Smartphones the gaming community considers to be within their league. Yes, there are flagship devices that come with good hardware, but it can only do so much to provide them with a true gaming experience that they seek. The demand for the ultimate gaming phone is filling by the buckets, and gamers want to have more options that can go with Xiaomi's Black Shark, the Asus ROG Phone and the Razer 2.
Nubia is another name that can go toe to toe with the market's current lineup of gaming-centered handhelds. Their Red Magic Mars did pretty well, but now they feel that it's time to kick it up a notch. The Shenzhen-based Smartphone maker recently unveiled the Red Magic 3 in their home turf and it promises to take gaming "to the next level."
XDA Developers said that the Nubia Red Magic 3's "specialized hardware" is something that is not present in the current lineup of "commercial" Android Smartphones. Case in point: the Nubia Red Magic Mars packs an active cooling system on the inside. That's right: the fan is on the inside of the phone, and it can work "continuously" for 1 one hour but consuming less that 1% of power.
Stuffing a cooling fan inside a Smartphone may look like an audacious plan, but Nubia feels that this is their mark to be a, well, game-changer. The company also claimed that the fan can go up to 14,000rpm. Pair it with what Endgadget reported as a "liquid cooling copper heat pipe," and you'll have a device that can give gamers extended hours of "smooth gaming experience."
Despite the cooling fan and the gaming PC-like inclusions, the Nubia Red Magic 3 is still IP55 approved when it comes to dust and water resistance. The phone also adopted the customizable capacitive shoulder buttons of the Red Magic Mars, as well as an RGB LED strip at the back. The fingerprint sensor can also be used as an extension button, while the "Red Magic Game Space 2.0" can be toggled so that gamers can access their games and tweak the Red Magic 3 to go with their preferences.
Moreover, the Nubia Red Magic 3 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor plus an option to go up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The handset's 6.55inch FHD+ AMOLED display screen can handle HDR and tags a 90Hz refresh rate. Engadget said that the Nubia Red Magic 3 can handle 8K video recording and a "super slow motion mode" up to 1,920fps.
The Nubia Red Magic 3 will also feature a 5,000mAh batter that supports 30W fast charging via Quick Charge 4.0. Camera-wise, the device has a 48megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor at the back and a 16megapixel front facing snapper. The Nubia Red Magic 3 will start at around $430 for the base variant of 6B/64GB, and should go up to $640 for the 12GB/256GB model. China will be the first to offer the Red Magic 3, and will eventually reach Canada, United State, United Kingdom and Europe in late May.
