Even at 40-years-old, anyone who dares take on Manny Pacquiao needs to be careful. And that includes Keith Thurman – one of the next opponents the camp of the Filipino boxing sensation is considering.

There is no question that Thurman is all hyped up. He has yet to suffer a loss in his boxing career with the lone tarnish being a no contest against Francisco Garcia back in 2009. Also worth considering about the 30-year-old pug that his last seven fights were decided via decision. The last time he won via knockout was in 2013, a TKO win over Jesus Soto Karass to retain his WBA interim welterweight title.

Of course, this is no indication that he will be a pushover against Pacquiao. Most point out the fact that Thurman is a lot younger and that alone plays an integral part on a boxer’s punching power and speed. But as far as top 10 world-rated lightweight contender George Kambosos Jr., age may just be a number especially if you talk about Pacquiao.

According to George Kamboso Jr. in an interview with RingTV, someone who has sparred with Pacquiao for over 300 rounds, has repeatedly said that the eight-time division champion is someone who is very difficult to fight. So in the end, it may all fall down to preparation.

Keith Thurman may need to prepare in the event he is the next opponent for Pacquiao this coming July. But how prepared is One Time? This is one of the things that Forbes pointed out in an article. It pointed out how physical preparation will be important and how Thurman can match the punching power of Pacquiao.

From hindsight, it is clear that the Pac-Man still has the power and speed event at his ripe age. Another issue he may have to deal with is that Pacquiao is a southpaw and his mental preparation against the Filipino boxing icon, perhaps one of the biggest (if not the biggest) in his boxing career.

Tied up to Thurman’s preparations is his ability to hack out a convincing win. If his last fights are to be considered, it seems like if ever he does pull one over Pacquiao, it may be via decision. But of course, he will need to withstand the beating that boxer-senator can do. He can still deal heavy pounding as can be seen in his clashes with Adrien Broner and Lucas Matthysse- two fighters who found out the hard way.
