Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may just be moments away from welcoming their first-born child. However, the fanfare over Baby Sussex has been on overdrive since royal watchers found out about the Duchess' due date.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced that they would rather privately enjoy the birth of their child or tell the world about the baby in their own time. However, a detail on the official royal website might have already let the cat out of the bag.
Eager royal watchers found out that there have been landing pages set up on the royal website for all members of the family. For instance, the daughter of Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton, Princess Charlotte, has an online profile at Royal.uk/Princess-Charlotte.
According to Express, the result would go back to the main page when trying to search for names like Prince Arthur, Prince Alexander, and Prince James. However, a search for Princess Victoria won't yield such result and instead have a "page not found" notice. This suggested that there are reserved landing pages for these names.
Now, royal watchers believe that the names Arthur, Alexander, and James have been reserved for Baby Sussex. Does this mean that Meghan and Prince Harry are going to have a son? Did the royal website make a mistake of setting up these reserved names?
The palace, however, was quick to deny the speculations that these are the names for Baby Sussex.
"A large number of search term redirects were set up some time ago on Royal.uk. This was to improve the user experience. For guidance, you will note that other names preceded by 'prince' or 'princess' produce the same result," a palace spokesperson said in a statement via Yahoo UK.
This isn't the first time an upcoming royal birth has faced much scrutiny. When Duchess Kate was pregnant with her third child, royal watchers also looked to the website for clues about the baby's name and found an "access denied" result for Prince Albert.
However, as it turned out, Prince William and Kate named their most recent bundle of joy Prince Louis. Hence, the website search may not be such solid evidence for Baby Sussex's name.
Meanwhile, the name Grace has slowly emerged on the top of the betting list for Baby Sussex, according to People. Fans also think that Prince Harry and Meghan will name their baby after Princess Diana if it's a girl. Though Meghan is reportedly due to give birth by the end of April or early May, it might be a while before royal watchers can confirm all these speculations about Baby Sussex's real name.
