The Flash (played by Grant Gustin) and his team are going to have to stop a threat against the meta-humans in The Flash season 5 episode 21. Set as the show's second to the last episode of the season, this promises to be an exciting installment.

The teaser for The Flash season 5 episode 21 shows the enemy, Cicada II (played by Sarah Carter), looking supercharged and ready to unleash the virus. All the meta-humans are also seen attempting to hide and take cover at the police department of Central City but why are all of them there?

According to the episode synopsis, everyone is on high alert as this virus could wipe out the meta-humans in one blow. Apparently, it was Barry's idea to bring all of them in one particular place to make it easier for his team to protect them.

But rounding them up at the police precinct also means that it will be easier for Cicada II to take them out in The Flash season 5 episode 21. So, will Barry's plan work?

"Wipe them off the face of the planet," someone says in the teaser as Cicada II prepares her weapon. She is seen trying to break the ceiling of the police station in an attempt to kill the metas.

The team learned that Cicada II has the virus in The Flash season 5 episode 20, which aired on The CW last Tuesday, April 30. They also know that she has stolen a cryo-atomizer to use against the metas.

The virus was actually developed by Cisco (played by Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin (played by Danielle Panabaker) at the STAR Labs. It came from a bad batch of a cure they were trying to make.

Meanwhile, ahead of The Flash season 5 finale, The CW announced that the series will be back for a sixth season. However, a new showrunner will be taking over the production after Todd Helbing confirmed he will be stepping down. In his place will be executive producer Eric Wallace.

"Eric Wallace has proven his own exceptional talent and voice since season 4, and we couldn't be more thrilled to watch how he shapes the future of Team Flash and the many thrilling adventures that lay ahead for our characters and dedicated fans," creator Greg Berlanti said regarding the changes on The Flash in a press release
