The reality series cooking competition MasterChef Australia season 11 premiered on Network 10 last Monday, April 29. The show did not waste any time naming the worthy Top 24 who will be allowed to proceed behind its halls and continue with the contest. So, here's a quick round-up of who they are.
Abbey Rose was shown to have gotten her white apron in one of the montages for MasterChef Australia season 11. She works as a buyer in a company called Essential Ingredients and she dreams of opening her own restaurant in Hunter Valley.
Anushka Zargaryan was the last to get the white apron in the first episode of MasterChef Australia season 11. Her specialty is a mix of Russian, Armenian and Iranian cooking.
Ben Trobbiani brought the judges his lamb with parsnips and beetroot. He loves cooking modern Australian dishes and learned to cook because of his dad.
Blake Werner mostly loves cooking Spanish food and served quail with jamon during his audition, which the judges finished off. He's not actually Spanish.
Christina Laker did not have a lot of screen time in MasterChef Australia season 11. She's likely a dessert chef based on what was previewed about her.
Dee Williams was actually the very first one named in Top 24 of MasterChef Australia season 11. The judges absolutely loved her Sri Lankan custard with orange and coconut cream.
Derek Lau is into baking but he brought dumplings for the judges. He looks fit and buff and may likely emerge as a fan favorite this season.
Huda Al Sultan's forte is Middle Eastern cuisine. MasterChef Australia season 11 didn't have enough feature of her in the initial episodes though.
Jess Hall admits she's a very loud person and has a great personality to match that big physique. She plans on opening a market stall and served caramelized scallops for the judges at MasterChef Australia season 11.
Joe Ahern said he learned to cook from watching YouTube videos. He describes himself as methodical but may likely have tougher time than other contestants in this season.
Kyle Lyons presented food that's actually mushrooms but tasted like scallops. He had the judges fooled but it was a good thing his dish was delicious.
Larissa Takchi didn't quite get it right during the cook-off for her second dish. However, the judges of MasterChef Australia season 11 thought her pork belly was superb.
Leah Milburn-Clark teared up during the audition process because she was so pumped to be in MasterChef Australia. She looks to be a chef who doesn't mind experimenting flavors.
Mandy Hall is a mom who loves to cook spicy Mediterranean dishes. One of the judges didn't like her food because it tasted too strong and dry. However, she still got the white apron.
Monica Mignone is also into sweets than meals. There wasn't enough time to get to know her in the first two episodes.
Nicole Scott is into savory dishes, meats and mashes. She had a minor cut on her hand during one of the competitions.
Sandeep Pandit served lamb for the judges which he didn't think was cooked perfectly. He seems to have a deeper understanding of how flavors blend well.
Simon Tahooney wants to open a smokehouse for vegans. He served broccoli, artichoke, and pine nut cream to the judges for his audition in MasterChef Australia season 11.
Steph De Sousa cooked Indian food as inspired by her husband. She also worked as a former hairdresser before finding her passion for cooking.
Tati Carlin learned to cook dishes through her grandmother. She wants to promote Indonesian cuisine to the world.
Tessa Boersma is into seafood and she cooked rainbow trout with a siding of coconut broth to impress the judges.
Tim Bone looks like Prince Harry and knew what dish to pick to please the judges of MasterChef Australia season 11. He served them crispy pork with charred fennel, apple and thyme glaze and celeriac puree.
Walleed Rasheed made Baklava cones for the judges and that was all that was shown of him so far this week.
Yossra Abouelfadl served her food in Arabic newspaper. As an Egyptian, she loves Middle Eastern food but introduces a twist to her dishes.
Meanwhile, judges George Colombaris, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston are back on MasterChef Australia season 11. They will be joined by guest judges Nigella Lawson, Curtis Stone and Rick Stein in some episodes.
