Google is having trouble keeping the lid on the details surrounding the next-generation Pixel phones. It could be a few months before the Pure Android handsets are actually released but this early, the phone specifications, functions, and the devices' possible price tags have been leaked out generously, and to nobody's surprise.
From the circle of well-known leakers, it was proposed that the Pixel 3a with a 5.6-inch display and the Pixel 3a XL with a 6-inch screen will unbox in three color finishes, namely Just Black, Clearly White and Purple-ish. The latest information, picked up by Engadget, indicated that just like the 2018 version, the upcoming sequels will be equipped with premium camera functionalities.
One giveaway provided by the report is the inclusion of Night Mode with the next-gen Pixel's rear shooter, which will be at 12MP and 8MP for the selfie cam on both screen sizes. If true, this is hardly unforeseen as the brand is known to serve up shooting capabilities at par with the likes of iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and the latest Huawei P30 flagship series.
Not only the Pixel 3as will have expanded color options but the devices will also show off mid-range abilities with a bit of step up. Also, the latest chatter talks of the OLED display in 1080p resolution for both phone sizes and pixel density that surely will please the eyes. The regular 3a will be blessed with 441ppi while the XL is at 401ppi.
As for the energy source under the hood, the smaller Pixel 2019 will mighty up with a 3,000mAh battery and as expected the larger one is bulkier on the juice up department, supposedly having a 3,700mAh battery rating. There was a mention of 18W fast charging but it was unclear if the implementation will end up across the board.
The storage provision for the new Pixels will be at 64GB, which contradicts the earlier rumors that internal memory size will be cut down to 32GB in the hope of keeping the price at a lower level. The possibility of having the room to expand the storage size was not discussed in the same report.
Yet perhaps the most important details revealed by the latest barrage of Google Pixel leaks have to do with the pricing questions. It seems the search giant is gunning to shift as many Pixels as possible this 2019 and the company thought wise that the best way to do so is to make the devices more accessible.
At $399 for the Pixel 3a and $479 for the extra-large version, it's hard to argue that this starting price, though remains unconfirmed, are not accessible enough if not downright cheap.
Google is gathering Android developers from the world over at 2019 I/O on May 7, which is believed to be the same date to introduce both Android Q and the first devices to get the new OS in stock form - that will be the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL.
