It is true that Spider-Man is here to save the day. However, he went on a class trip in Europe with friends MJ and Ned, as far as he knows. But Nick Fury needed his help, with Thor off-world and Captain Marvel unavailable, he has a job to do.
Together with a new hero named Mysterio played by Jake Gyllenhaal, Spider-Man has to fight off monsters that are causing massive destruction in the city. But because of the effect of losing Tony Stark, his mentor, father-figure and head of the Avengers, Spider-Man doesn't feel the need and the jive to destroy the creatures that came from the Avengers: Endgame snap. Hearing him say that the world needs another Iron Man, Mysterio talks to him of how a superhero can do and can sacrifice.
Recalling how Spider-Man idolized Iron Man, Happy Hogan talked to him how the leaders of the Avengers gave up his life because he knew Spider-Man would be there. The snap which has destroyed Thanos was also the key to rewind all that Thanos destroyed, including Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War. Because of this sacrifice, Peter Parker and the rest of the world has been living peacefully five years after Iron Man's death.
In the trailer, Spider-Man was reached by Happy Hogan played by Jon Favreau, the assistant and right-hand man guy of Iron Man. Insistent and furious, Happy Hogan wanted Spider-Man to answer the phone to which Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson was on the other line. But Spider-Man hanged the mobile and put Nick Fury on voicemail, seemingly unaware of the urgency of his call.
A typical teenager, Peter Parker continued on his European vacation with friends, and at the background, he was talking to Mysterio and explained that he likes his friend, MJ played by Zendaya. But Nick Fury has to cut short his trip by personally going inside his hotel room, typical of Nick Fury as he usually does it before to Tony Stark and the rest of the team. He shot a sedating bullet on Peter Parker's friend Ned, as a protocol for civilians not to meddle with superhero duties.
From there Spider-Man was half convinced and half-forced to go to their caved headquarters where he met Mysterio and Maria Hill who are already working with Nick Fury to destroy the Elementals. As Spider-Man tries to be relieved from his duty, he was asking where the other Avengers were, and Maria Hill answers him one by one. Spider-Man continued to fight the Elementals with the help and support of Mysterio who became like an elder in replace of Iron Man.
If the trailer and the movie itself have already given a hint of the next Iron Man, then it remains to be told as more Marvel movies and characters in the younger generation will conquer the screen. Though everybody will miss the senior Avenger team, there is a responsibility ahead for these young ones, and they needed all the right support, advise and inspiration that the elders can provide them. Watch out for Spider-Man: Far From Home in theaters, July 2, 2019.
