You can now download iOS 12.3, which includes Apple Channels, the subscription that rivals Amazon channels and rolls exciting content into Apple's TV app from the iTunes Store. The new software update doesn't deliver Apple TV Plus, but it does overhaul the TV app's look and offers Apple Channels that allows users to subscribe to channels like Showtime and HBO.
All you need to do is open the Settings app, tap General, and then tap the Software Update. Next, follow the prompts and you're good to go. The new update also eliminates having to download channel apps individually.
The new TV app also available as an update to tvOS on Apple's set top boxes. To update your Apple TV, simply tap open Settings, tap System, then Software Update, and follow the on-screen prompts. With this new update, the Kids section is added at the top of the screen.
Apple announced in its release documentation that subscriptions are located in the middle of the Watch Now feature and that it can be shared with up to six family members without the need for new passwords, accounts, or apps. You can rent or buy movies from the TV app, which offers new kid-friendly content via the Kids section.
Users who don't have Apple TV boxes can still share music, photos, and videos from their iOS gadgets made possible by the 12.3 update, which adds support for AirPlay 2-compatible TVs. With the new 'one tap playback' feature, your favorite movies or TV shows will automatically play on the last screen you used in accordance to location and time.
Apple continues to show its promise of providing privacy-first experience by recommending shows based on "intelligent suggestions" without compromising users' personal information. The suggestions are also well-curated, so it doesn't get mixed up with the shows on your smart TV.
iOS 12.3 also comes with a patch that corrects previously raised issues with the Apple TV remote such as volume changes or paused videos on supported receivers. Additionally, the TV app is now capable of finding nearby devices that support it.
More than just a TV-content focused update, iOS 12.3 also brings changes to the News app, which now allows users to follow a magazine using the Apple News+ catalog browsing view. Meanwhile at Apple Music, Apple says that exciting updates can be expected soon, based on the moods, artists, and genres favored by each user.
