The Sun Is Also A Star will hit the big screen this week, and the film will probably make viewers cry. The teen drama movie is based on the best-selling novel by Nicola Yoon, which follows the story of two teenagers who suddenly met one day and eventually fell in love with each other.

The Sun Is Also A Star features college-bound romantic Daniel Bae (played by Riverdale's Charles Melton) and the Jamaica-born pragmatist Natasha Kingsley (Grown-ish star Yara Shahidi). Both of them didn't know each other until that one magical day came.

Daniel is preparing for his Yale interview; he loves art, but his parents are the ones making decisions for him. Natasha, on the other hand, is an immigrant and she is fighting for her family so that they would not be deported out of the state, or else, they need to go back to Jamaica.

The two formed a very romantic relationship, but a lot of problems come along the way. The movie tackles relevant and real-life problems some people are facing today, so many believe the film will make viewers cry. Daniel and Natasha met each other by chance, found friendship, and then developed a romance.

In a previous interview with PEOPLE magazine, Yara talked about her characters in the movie and said Natasha is into facts and science. She also said she could relate to how dedicated her character is to science, especially as a means of understanding the world around her. A lot of people let Natasha down that's why she turned to facts and science so she wouldn't feel disappointed again.

Meanwhile, Charles' character Daniel is a Korean-American teen, and he is struggling on how to make his parents proud, but also wants to follow his heart. His parents want him to become a doctor, and he knows that would make them happy, yet he also wants to make his own decision and pursue his life as a poet.

Despite the struggles, however, Daniel and Natasha might have a happy ending. Based on the happenings in the book, the two were forced to part ways after sharing that one magical day, but after 10 years, they found each other again and discovered their lives went differently. Charles also teased that The Sun Is Also A Star is for anyone - especially for those who believe in love or the idea of love.

Meanwhile, other cast members in the film include Gbenga Akinnagbe (as Samuel Kingsley), Jake Choi (Charles Bae), Camrus Johnson (Omar), Cathy Shim (Min Soo Bae), and Miriam A. Hyman (Patricia Kingsley).

The Sun Is Also A Star will hit theaters on May 17.
