Melania and Donald Trump hosted the White House Historical Association Dinner Wednesday evening, with the former wearing an elegant black gown. The First Lady reeked of class and struck the guests as she appeared in the sleeveless, floor-length number.
President Trump and the First Lady Melania both spoke at the annual dinner which was in honor of the White House Historical Association, the non-profit organization charged with the responsibility of preserving the grandeur and history of the United States president's residence while in office.
The private organization had been founded by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1941. Its main purpose is the protection and historical preservation of the Executive Mansion. It is also tasked with giving the public an understanding, appreciation, as well as enjoyment of the White House.
In his speech that evening, the President spoke of a new development that provides another means for the American people to value the monument. Specifically this year, the event celebrates the creation of a new interactive app which gives a glimpse into the "majesty of the White House," according to the POTUS.
The interactive app will allow people to see the beauty of the American President's home and office, without having to be at the venue itself. For this achievement, Trump recognized the efforts of Teresa Carlson, who presently chairs the National Council of White House History.
The President, who had a black bow tie on, also pointed out during his speech the many other restorative works which are presently being undertaken at the "People's House." Among other things, he also referred to the new rug "designed by Melania" and "funded" by the organization. It now "graces" the Diplomatic Reception Room.
The First Lady had been first to speak, and while her words were considered "quite moving," it was her amazing look that evening that took the audience's breath away. Her dress bore a very striking resemblance to a $6,000 one designed by Akris.
In her speech, she recognized the Board of Directors of the White House Historical Association, namely its President, Stewart McLaurin, as well as the Chairman, Fred Ryan. She went on to thank as well the Vice Chairman, John Rogers. She gave the "team" a salute for its "leadership and vision" and said the group had been "incredible."
She went on to speak of the work the White House Historical Association has partnered with her office in the last two years. Melania also said that is due to the "support and commitment" of the association that the "tradition of protecting" the White House heritage can continue.
The First Lady expressed her gratitude for the opportunity her family was given to reside in what she referred to as a "true symbol" of America's history. She said it was an even greater honor for her to have the chance to be a part of preserving and "enhancing" the "sacred landmark."
