It's the first wedding anniversary of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who were married on May 19, 2018. To commemorate this day, the royal couple released a set of unseen wedding photos behind the scenes.
The pictures, 14 in total, were posted on the royal couple's Instagram. These were taken by photographer Chris Allerton and showed special moments on what happened during the special union of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
One of the photos showed Prince Harry "hitching" a ride to Windsor Castle from what looked like Buckingham Palace. Another revealed the prince was rehearsing his wedding speech.
The slideshow also featured both Prince Harry and Meghan signing their wedding registry with the Archbishop of Canterbury standing beside them. There was also a shot of Meghan being greeted by Prince Charles with a big smile and a photo of the bride holding the hands of her mother.
The series was appended by a photo of the crowd watching the wedding from outside the chapel. Meghan and Prince Harry ended the presentation by saying thanks to the public that followed their page.
"Thank you for all the love and support from so many of you around the world. Each of you made this day even more meaningful," the message stated. The photo series had the song "This Little Light of Mine" playing in the background.
Meanwhile, nearly one year to their wedding day, Meghan and Prince Harry welcomed their first-born son Archie Harrison, who was born on May 6. Two days after the baby's arrival, the happy parents showed Archie to the public at the hall of the St. George's Chapel.
The Sussex couple's decision not to immediately present Archie to the public received some criticisms, especially from the media eager to get a scoop on Baby Sussex. There were members of the media expecting the public display, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex instead chose to celebrate the birth of their first child privately.
Meghan and Prince Harry had such a whirlwind first year as a married couple. Along with having Archie, the Sussex royals also visited Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and Tonga as part of their royal duties.
The Duchess also released a cookbook for charity after she married Prince Harry. The couple also went to Morocco, at the height of Meghan's pregnancy, to visit a school for girls.
Today, Meghan is still enjoying her maternity leave. However, she is expected to be back in public a couple of weeks, and join her husband in their charity work.
