"The Notorious" UFC champion fighter Conor McGregor recently shared a detailed and incredibly entertaining recount of the post-fight brouhaha of the UFC 229 while challenging Khabib Nurmagomedov for a rematch. It can be recalled that in October 2018, "Mystic Mac" Connor McGregor was obliterated by Nurmagomedov in a devastating defeat by submission before they both get into a brawl that ended in their nine-month suspensions and $500,000 fines.
Connor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, since then commenced their sniping in social media. However, neither of the two has got back at the Octagon. Khabib Nurmagomedov is believed to defend his title next year against three fighters. He is also set to fight Dustin Poirier in September during UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.
The UFC star showed no sign of remorse for the precarious post-fight brawl during his interview with Tony Robbins, which was released in full just recently. Conor McGregor called out Khabib Nurmagomedov for another fight. He also alleged that the champion's camp is running away from the next chapter of their challenge.
The former UFC 2 weight divisions' title holder claimed that while the match did not go his way, the fight went his way. He also said that should the rematch fail to happen the blame should be on Nurmagomedov's camp since they are running away. Conor McGregor reiterated during the interview that he is going to fight and is available for a rematch.
In a separate interview, Connor McGregor admitted that he broke his foot when he kicked his training partner and it happened a couple of weeks before the UFC 229. Two of his toes were bent backward and a doctor has to come inside the cage to fix them. The UFC star added that his foot so swollen he could have his fight with Nurmagomedov rescheduled but he refused to do so and went on with the scheduled match.
Recently, Connor McGregor was making headlines again as the first ever to hold two UFC weight class titles. However, while "The Notorious" UFC star and his skirmishes echoed in the sports world and attracted a lot of attention, one important detail appears to have escaped the public's attention.
That is, Connor McGregor, the former featherweight and lightweight champion is indirectly saying that the only time he is going to go back at the Octagon is if he gets a chance to fight the unbeaten Dagestani. Many fighters at the division could sneer at this idea. This could include Dustin Poirier, UFC Interim champion, who is most likely next in line to fight Dagestani; and Tony Ferguson former UFC Interim champion.
