Conor McGregor has been known to do the unthinkable and the Irishman may have done just that. Ideally, fighters would need the proper time off to heal in the full contact sports. Regardless, “The Notorious” does not seem to care, at least vocally, revealing he would want to headline UFC 230 set for Nov. 3 in New York.

McGregor has been known to shoot his mouth off most of the time. However, it remains to be seen if he can back up his talk when he meets Khabib Nurmagomedov. Both are set to clash this Oct. 6 at the T-Mobile Arena, a meeting expected to be filled with fireworks.

McGregor faces a Russian that has yet to taste defeat. Further, it will be his first UFC fight since winning via TKO over Eddie Alvarez last Nov. 12, 2016, to win the UFC Lightweight title. As mentioned in a previous post, the only appearance he made after that was the fantasy boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. where he bowed after 10 rounds.

Nurmagomedov may be composed and seemingly unaffected by the antics of McGregor for now. Come fight night, the Russian is expected to unleash his fury on the Irishman and get even following that horrific scene that went down at the UFC 223 media day where his upcoming opponent and other fighters ended up injured.

None of this apparently scares McGregor as he continuous his foul-mouthed tirade. Probably aware that UFC 230 leaves a lot to be desired, he has set his sights on fighting again in less than 30 days, MMA Mania said.

However, there are a lot of precedents for that to happen. One is that he needs to come out victorious against Nurmagomedov to make the New York card. He also needs to make sure that he is fit to compete by the time. Normally, there are medical suspensions that follow – each varying depending on the condition of a fighter after matches.

Assuming McGregor comes out as champion, it will be interesting if the UFC will consider McGregor’s seemingly outrageous proposal. As of this writing, the main event for UFC 230 will be Valentina Shevchenko facing Sijara Eubanks while the co-main event will see Nate Diaz go up against Dustin Poitier.

From a perspective, the UFC 230 main events leave a lot to be desired and probably have UFC president Dana White thinking of McGregor’s jab, unless this was something already staged to spur interest for both pay-per-views. Win or lose, inserting McGregor to the next UFC card will undoubtedly be playing in the UFC top brass’ mind.
