The first day of the San Francisco 49ers' inter-season activities were of anguish and apprehension as defensive end freshman and 2019 NFL top draft pick Nick Bosa suffered a hamstring injury during the first OTAs (organized team activities) of the team last Tuesday. According to diagnosis, Bosa's injury will sideline him for a few weeks or until after training camp.
49ers Nick Bosa left the training field limping off with an injury to the posterior thigh muscle and had received first air treatment from coaches. Team coach Kyle Shanahan has confirmed the injury, however, the severity of the injury is not yet known by that time.
The diagnosis came out today and the good news for 49ers is that the injury occured in the off-season and is not considered serious. It is the lowest degree of a hamstring strain were in Nick Bosa would be able to walk normally and be out on the field again for only at least three weeks.
According to 49ers reports, the injury occurred when Bosa participated in a one-on-one drill. The defender still endured the injury in the rest of the activity, and did not leave the field immediately. Bosa was seen using a protection in the region of the injury until the training was completed.
Injuries during the first inter-season activities are always a warning, especially when a player has a history of troubling clinical problems, as is the case with Nick Bosa. If there was a concern surrounding the selection of the defensive end in the Draft, it was the inability of the Ohio State product to stay healthy.
Bosa's history of injury has long since come. The first difficulty came even in high school, when the athlete broke the ligaments of the knee. At the university, Bosa managed to have a good sequence throughout his first two years with the Buckeyes, however, in 2018, a new injury hampered his growth again. During his senior year in college football, Bosa played in only three matches due to a groin problem. Although Bosa underwent surgery to remedy the problem, the player decided not to return to college football fields to get fully recovered in the professional field.
Injuries appear not wanting to abandon the second overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. This time, on the first day of their training that may disrupt the beginning of his NFL. The injury may be taken as a blessing in disguise though as the 49ers may want their prized pick defensive end to be preserved for the rest of the initial off-season activities .
The team has scheduled seven more OTA training sessions followed by mandatory training that will begin June 11-13.
