Lamar Odom, 39, opens up about previously being in a secret and passionate relationship with Taraji P. Henson, 48, before he met and married Khloe Kardashian, 34.
For sure, the first woman who comes to mind when a person mentions Lamar Odom is the reality television star, Khloe Kardashian. But the NBA star revealed that, prior to his and Kardashian's whirlwind romance, he had been secretly involved with another woman.
In an effort to promote his new memoir, Darkness Into Light, the professional basketball player has been openly giving away some juicy excerpts from the book. In one of those excerpts, he revealed that, in 2008, he secretly dated the Empire actress Taraji P. Henson.
He goes into the details of the secret romance between him and the actress. Odom claims that when the two first met, they ended up exchanging their phone numbers. He also recalls how Henson was an incredibly wise woman who could see through all the plays and acts he was going for to catch her attention.
He says that the actress openly refused and expressed her dislike of becoming just another girl in the professional athlete's roster. She told him she refused to be one of his conquests, and Odom added that, in truth, he never wanted nor intended for her to be.
Odom then went on to say that his secret romance with the Oscar nominee quickly escalated into something really passionate, saying their relationship was hot and heavy. And the pair started dating in secret for a few months. Henson was over at Odom's place almost every day, and the two were smitten with each other.
Sometimes, the actress would bring over some of her celebrity friends. At one point, Odom found Love and Basketball actress Sanaa Lathan under his own roof, and the pair welcomed the star and mingled like old friends.
In his memoir, Odom also writes about how swiftly he had fallen head over heels for the charming woman. He confesses that he never had a connection just as intimate and deep with any other black woman like the one he had with Henson.
Apparently, Odom was also introduced to Henson's son, Marcel, who was at the time 14 years old and was another frequent guest in his home.
The athlete also recalls that was one of the happiest times in his life. However, the tale of their secret relationship ends with him writing about how he had blown the chance to keep something God-given and too good for him.
He could not remain faithful to the older actress, and she had enough of it. The two split up and parted ways. Months after, Odom was already involved with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star who he married and eventually divorced after a couple of years.
