On David Letterman's show on Netflix's, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Ellen DeGeneres revealed a shocking truth from her past. The 61-year old famous talk show host became a guest herself and gave the details of her experiences for the first time since 2005.
In an interview for the latest issue of Allure magazine, Ellen DeGeneres would try to escape her stepfather by "kicking the window out and escaping; then she would sleep in a hospital all night long."
Her revelation was a form of empowering young girls to speak up and tell someone when things happen like that on them.
In the sexual abuse, she has experienced from her stepfather who is already deceased, Ellen DeGeneres was just about 15 or 16 at that time, and her mother was out of the house for a check-up of her cancer treatment. Her stepdad used her mom's cancer diagnosis to manipulate her to touch one of her sensitive body parts.
"Ellen DeGeneres narrates, "He told me when she was out of town that he'd felt a lump in her breast and needed to feel my breasts because he didn't want to upset her, but he needed to feel mine. He convinced me that he needs to feel my breasts, and then he tries to do it again another time, and then another time."
The talk show host knew then that things would proceed to a more horrendous scene as she was forced to escape their house when her stepfather would knock on her bedroom.
The "horrible story" as Ellen DeGeneres describes it will somehow enable other girls not ever to let someone do that to them. The Ellen DeGeneres show host explained how he didn't know about bodies that time, as "breasts are all different." She decided not to tell her mother that time, because she thought it would ruin her happiness.
Ellen DeGeneres previously revealed how she calls her stepfather as a "very bad man" but hid the abuse for years before telling her mother. Despite knowing the horrible truth, her mother Betty did not believe her when she was told of the assault and remained married to the man for another 18 years.
However, the talk show host has always been there for her mother and somehow managed to confess her feelings of neglect to her mother, who was, in turn, became apologetic about all the things that happened to her. David Letterman's Netflix show also features Kanye West, and Tiffany Haddish on its 2nd season and will be released on Friday, May 31.
