The internet is considered as the most powerful tool in the world in almost every aspect of life. Many entrepreneurs use the World Wide Web as an extension of their physical market, which offers a lot of promising opportunities when it comes to increasing their sales, adding up their inventory, and improving their advertisements. Even in the medical field, the internet is vastly used as it can be an effective platform where information can be available for everyone to see.

Since this fruit of technology has evolved to become one of the needs in life, as reported by KIBIN, people can't help but allot more time to it as compared to what they used to. Unfortunately, in 1998, experts have linked an increase in screen time to gadgets such as laptops, cellphones, and tablet with detrimental effects and other social and psychological problems.

Ever since the experts realized how important it is to monitor screen time to reduce negative outcomes, these people have since then conducted more studies to understand it more. As a matter of fact, just recently, experts found the answer to one of the most asked question when it comes to gadget exposure-"What's the ideal amount of screen time people should remember?"

In answering the question, expert Doreen Dodgen-Magee, an Oregon-based psychologist and author of Deviced! Balancing Life and Technology in a Digital World, explains that the time invested watching their favorite movie on YouTube or the time people spend wandering on Facebook shouldn't be the concern. "Content and context" are what matters, the expert claims.

Dodgen-Magee explained what she said by stating an example. According to her, searching for facts and new information through the internet for eight hours straight is way better, as compared to investing 10 minutes watching pornographic videos.

The expert also advice people to focus not just on the time they allot for using their gadget or researching online but also how to balance their personal life with it. According to TIME, if you think you are already giving up a huge part of your social life just to satisfy your desire of watching videos, then it is time to change your lifestyle.

Cal Newport, an associate professor of computer science at Georgetown University, explains how technology is created to help and improve the lives of people and not to destroy it. But unfortunately, it will eventually ruin your life in the end only if you will let it.

Newport claims, since it is almost impossible to eliminate the use of gadgets and internet nowadays, the goal is not to remove its usage completely. But it is crucial to learn how to maximize it for the better. "You want the feeling that your technology is improving your life, not detracting from its quality," he says.
