This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo brought about a handful of teasers and trailers for games which are expected to be released within the foreseeable future. One of the most anticipated titles is "Wolfenstein: Youngblood,' which is a spinoff of the popular first-person-shooter title. One interesting bit of information released about the upcoming title is how long it is going to take for players to complete it.
The estimated game length of "Wolfenstein: Youngblood" was confirmed by Machine Games' executive producer Jerk Gustafsson. During an interview with GamesBeat, he talked about the game's new characters, as well as the game's length.
During the interview, Gustafsson said that the game will take around 20 to 30 hours to be completed. This is quite an interesting development as previous installments of the series only take around half of that time to finish. He later added that what takes the new game longer to be completed is a level progression, as well as its non-linear narrative.
Gustafsson said, "Like I said, the story is lighter in content as well as tone. But the level progression and non-linear narrative gives us the ability to add a lot of activities and a lot of missions to do, so the total game time is actually longer that our previous titles."
"Wolfenstein: Youngblood" allows you to control one of the two main characters: Jess or Soph. There is a confirmed co-op multiplayer mode that allows two players to control the two characters. Since the game follows a non-linear narrative, missions can be completed in almost any order giving players a sense of an open-world dynamic. As for character progression, players have the ability to unlock new abilities and gears as they progress deep into the game.
The game is set two decades following the events of "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus." It is set in an alternate universe wherein Nazi Germany won the Second World War.
"Wolfenstein: Youngblood" was announced during the E3 2018. The game is developed by MachineGames and Arkane Studio, and will be published by Bethesda Softworks. MachineGames was also responsible for the development of the rebooted "Wolfenstein" series, while Arkane Studios is known for handling the development of the "Dishonored" series. The game runs on the id Tech 6 game engine. The game is expected to hit shelves on July 26, 2019. It is available for Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia platforms.
