American Housewife season 4 is moving to a different night when the show returns this fall on ABC. The sitcom starring Katy Mixon as the stay-at-home mom Katie Otto is going to air every Fridays instead of its previous Tuesday time schedule.

The network confirmed the move of American Housewife season 4 to Friday nights with the release of its 2019 Fall TV schedule. Consequently, the show still doesn't have a premiere date since production for the fourth season has not yet started.

Earlier, the show was moved to a Tuesday night time schedule from its original Wednesday airing to make way for a new series, The Goldbergs spinoff Schooled. Despite the shift, American Housewife still raked about 4.25 million weekly viewers and earned decent numbers for ABC.

American Housewife season 4 will still likely include the same cast as no major casting changes will be expected despite the time shift. As it is, Mixon is still going to reprise her role as the stay-at-home mother trying to make ends meet as the second unsophisticated family in her community. Deidrich Bader as Greg Otto is also going to be back for American Housewife season 4, along with the show's growing children, such as Meg Donnelly (as Taylor Otto), Daniel DiMaggio (as Oliver Otto), and Julia Butters (as Anna-Kat Otto).

Sarah Dunn created American Housewife based on her experiences as a mom and journalist living with her husband and young kids in a community in New York's upstate. She was apparently labeled as the "second fattest housewife" in the town, which was, incidentally, the show's original title.

The scribe wanted to feature regular middle-aged mothers, particularly work-at-home or stay-at-home moms, in her comedy series when she pitched the idea to the network. Drawing experiences from her own life, Dunn found a treasure among the local moms in her neighborhood.

"Nobody knows how funny middle-age moms are. Nobody knows this!" the scribe said, per Refinery 29. "Part of what I wanted to do was to make a show where women with kids could see their struggles and that the pains in their asses are real and someone else feels them."

Meanwhile, it's still unclear if American Housewife season 4 will come up with another musical episode as a follow up to its two specials in the third season. Composer Justin Paul and Glenn Slater, however, said that they would be happy to come back for more.

"It would be a pleasure to come back and find another reason for them to turn the episode into a showcase for their voices and to deliver that part of it," Slater told Broadway World.
