God Friended Me season 2 is almost ready to begin production. The feel-good light-hearted drama series starring Brandon Micheal Hall has nearly completed the first few scripts of the second season.

Hall posted a photo on his Instagram with the team of writers at work on God Friended Me season 2. The writers' Twitter account also shared the photo and confirmed that they are "almost ready to break out the cameras for our season premiere."

God Friended Me has been hiatus since its first season finale in April. It's likely. However, that work on the set for the second season will begin sometime in mid-July, as most network shows usually kick off production around this time.

CBS renewed God Friended Me season 2 last January after its ratings success. The show, which airs on Sunday nights, average at least 10 million viewers a week and has become the second most-watched new TV show, as per Variety.

Upon its return, God Friended Me will remain on the Sunday night schedule at 8:00 p.m., as per Entertainment Weekly. It will air alongside NCIS: Los Angeles and Madam Secretary's final season.

God Friended Me season 1 ended with a woman, named Joy (played by Jessica Lu), who approached Miles (Hall) because she got a friend suggestion from God. It floored Miles that he's not the only one in this situation and the show's executive producers said that Joy would change the dynamics of God Friended Me season 2.

"I think it definitely raises these new questions of, Miles now isn't necessarily the only one, and what does that mean going forward?" executive producer Steve Lilien told TV Line. "We don't know right away where [Joy] is from, and where she lives. Has she come to New York? Does she live here? Those are all the questions we're going to answer right away when we pick back up in Season 2."

God Friended Me season 2 will open with Cara (played by Violett Beane) in Paris for a few episodes. She will return to New York with a different insight and mindset.

The show also stars Javicia Leslie (as Ali), Suraj Sharma (as Rakesh) and James Morton (as Arthur), while Adam Goldberg (as Simon) appears as a guest star and is originally thought to be the person behind the God account on social media. Derek Luke (as Henry) is also a semi-regular, who played Simon's elusive former tech partner whom the God Squad also thought was behind the God account.
