It seems like BLACKPINK's Jisoo is ready for her moment on the acting spotlight as it was confirmed that the Kpop superstar was cast in tVn's epic fantasy series Arthdal Chronicles. While details about her role are still under wraps, it has been reported that she will join 2PM's Nichkhun as an addition to the cast.
In a report by Billboard, the magazine cited a source from JYP Entertainment in confirming the news that BLACKPINK member Jisoo and Thai Kpop idol Nichkhun have already filmed for their parts in the drama.
While 2PM's Nichkhun has several web drama and variety show appearances under his belt, Arthdal Chronicles is considered as Jisoo's official acting debut. It can be recalled that the BLACKPINK member earlier appeared in a cameo for 2015's KBS2 drama The Producers before she debuted as a Kpop idol. With her small role, she impressed fans with her natural acting skills.
It can also be recalled during one of the interviews with BLACKPINK that her members Jennie, Lisa, and Rose were also very confident about her acting abilities. They said that if there were one of them who would one day win an Oscar, it would have to be Jisoo.
Jisoo and Nichkhun will be challenged by picking up roles in Arthdal Chronicles, which is considered the television comeback of Song Joong Ki after the global phenomenon Descendants of the Sun. The show is a fantasy series that is set in an ancient society called Arthdal. Apart from Song Joong Ki, big-name stars like Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ji Won also make up the members of the cast.
BLACKPINK Jisoo and 2PM member Nichkhun are not the only Kpop stars included in the cast. Fresh from his successful portrayals in A Korean Odyssey and Her Private Life, Korean rapper One (Jung Je Won) has also been cast as the young version of Jang Dong Gun's character Ta Gon.
Both Jisoo and Nichkhun are still very busy with their music careers despite taking on the role of Arthdal Chronicles. BLACKPINK has just concluded the North American and European legs of their Your Area World Tour and recently flew to Manila for a brief fan meet for a controversial Shopee event.
They flew straight to Macao's Cotai Area to another successful show and are set to fly to Australia and Bangkok next to perform for sold-out crowds. Nichkhun has been quite busy with his series of solo concerts entitled Home. Members of 2PM attended his concert to support their member including Taecyeon who just came out of mandatory enlistment.
