It might still be a long wait for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but fans can rest assured that the sequel is certainly in development. Interestingly, it looks like the third Guardians movie will be adding three new comic book characters who have not yet been introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A new report reveals that Beta Ray Bill and Quasar will be making their MCU debut in Vol. 3. In addition to that, it has also been reported that Nova will join the film in 2021.
There is little doubt that Beta Ray Bill is one of the comic book characters that fans have always wanted to appear in the MCU. Although the Korbonite had appeared in several animated series as well as the animated movie Planet Hulk, Bill has yet to show up in the Marvel Studios movies. Although he was initially set for a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige decided to cut Bill's scene. According to Feige, it was better to delay Bill's MCU debut since the deleted scene didn't give the character justice.
Luckily, it looks like Marvel has found the perfect vehicle for Beta Ray Bill's MCU debut. A recent leak confirmed that the character would be joining Quasar in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, it was revealed that Bill would only have a small appearance in the third GOTG movie. Nevertheless, there is still a huge possibility that Bill's brief screentime will lead to a larger role in a different MCU flick.
There have been speculations that Marvel is currently planning Thor 4 in the latter part of MCU's Phase 4. The scheduling is expected to give Chris Hemsworth the break he wanted so he could spend more time with his family. In addition to that, it should also allow the studio to work on the story for the fourth Thor film where the God of Thunder finally meets up with Beta Ray Bill.
Beta Ray Bill and Quasar are not the only characters who are expected to debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The leak also revealed that Nova is set to appear in the James Gunn movie before starring in his own solo MCU film later in Phase 4.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has not yet been given an official release date. However, the film is expected to begin production as soon as James Gunn completes work on Suicide Squad 2 in 2020.
