Just right after the conclusion of the Reputation tour, Taylor Swift immediately began her "Easter egg" hunting for her seventh and upcoming album, Lover.
At first, it seems that everyone is all down and excited about what she has to offer. Besides, who doesn't want to play a little hide and seek and Easter egg hunting with Taylor, right? And so her fun schemes of leaving clues and trails for Lover primarily worked out well.
But when ME! was released two months ago, which entails never-ending pieces of "Easter eggs" and clues, things started to turn sour. Many people pointed out that her upcoming album and music is losing its point and sense. And instead, the attention is all now focused on her little fun games.
As a result of the tiring hide and seek schemes, ME! never made it to the top spot of the Billboard charts. But of course, the majority of the Swifties are always there to support Taylor Swift. And according to them, the second single of her albums always work better than the leadoff single.
Quite amusingly, these claims heightened the hype and curiosity for her second single. So when You Need To Calm Down was dropped a few days ago, it seems that the world is watching out.
While her newest single, along with its music video, is quite entertaining and fun to watch, thanks to its overall aesthetics, there is something "cringy" with this track. In fact, The Sunday Morning Herald claims that the world has turned against Taylor Swift due to her newly released singles, especially the latest, You Need To Calm Down.
Aside from the words, "cringy" and "irrelevant," recent reports suggest that Taylor is trying to be iconic, especially to the LGBTQ community. Although some members of the community are seeing her as a real ally and her recent efforts are actually creating positive impacts on their causes, it is not difficult for everyone to speculate that she is just using this avenue and capitalizing on the community for the benefit of her upcoming album.
Some headlines attest that these speculations are all true. Besides, she is still an artist who needs to sell her music. But even so, they normally equate this to the positive results of her recent actions. And instead of telling Taylor Swift to calm herself down, they tend to say it back to all the critics that they are the one who needs calming down.
