The arrival of Russian Doll season 2 on Netflix was officially confirmed, yet there were only a few details about it. Series star Natasha Lyonne is expected to come back as Nadia Vulvokov, but some rumors claim she will no longer be the lead star. For now, here's everything we know so far about the second installment.
The release date of Russian Doll season 2 remains unpredicted right now as Netflix hasn't yet revealed any information about the air date. It can be noted. However, that season 1 premiered on February 1, 2019, so the second season will possibly arrive the same time in 2020, most likely on January 31.
As mentioned, Lyonne will reprise her role in the second installment, but she might not be the lead star this time. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress hinted that Russian Doll isn't a "one-woman" show. Also, showrunner Leslye Headland hinted the actress might not be leading the cast of the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, it's still uncertain whether or not Lyonne will be joined by other cast members from season 1, such as Elizabeth Ashley, Charlie Barnett, and Greta Lee. As for the plot of Russian Doll season 2, Lyonne said she had ideas ranging "out-there" anthology to "staying on board" with Nadia. There were also reports that the last episode of season 1 might have few hints for the second season.
It can be recalled there were a few Nadia's marching through the city, which leaves up several interpretations. Lyonne told Thrillist there are millions of "yous" walking around and it only depends on which one you'll put on for the day. So, it raises questions as to how many versions of Nadia are there altogether.
The actress also discussed the connection of video-game to the series, so it's very likely that Nadia and Alan might have to go through the same scenarios all over again. But, it's worth noting these details were still speculations and the confirmed plot details of season 2 until it begins its production.
Right now, there's also no trailer for Russian Doll season 2 since filming hasn't yet started. The trailer will most likely arrive until early 2020. Russian Doll is a dark-comedy series co-created by Lyonne, alongside Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler. The trio originally pitched the series, and it was reportedly intended to be three seasons.
All eight episodes of Russian Doll season 1 were all available to watch on Netflix.
