The episode synopsis of Ink Master season 12 episode 3 reveals that some artists have to work harder to secure their positions in this contest. Meanwhile, Ink Master season 12 episode 2 had an unexpected turnout as Elva decided to quit the series before the judges could choose who must go. The judges had been deliberating on her, Big Jazz and Alexis' fate when she stepped up and said that she no longer wants to be in the contest, per Ink Mag.
The judges thought that Elva's tattoo, which featured the head of Medusa, was not proportional and that this design has been a huge challenge for her. However, Elva believes that she did her best and will not have the judges dictate whether she's a good or bad tattoo artist.
Ink Master debuted on television last January 2012 with Dave Navarro as the presenter. The competition aimed to pit tattoo artists against each other to determine who's the best in the industry.
Contestants have to go through a series of challenges in Ink Master. The first one is the Flash Challenge, which does not entirely cover the act of doing tattoos. In some cases, it might entail hair cutting, painting, or burning. Whoever wins the Flash Challenge can choose the human they can work with for the Elimination Challenge, which is the toughest part of the competition as artists have under six hours to work on their designs. The judges -- composed of Navarro, Chris Nunez, and Oliver Peck -- then deliberate who will get eliminated or will win the title and the $100,000 cash prize.
