OnePlus has rattled the Android smartphone market since its entry sometime in 2014. Since then, the company has racked up quite a considerable following and managed to snatch a considerable market space from major players like Samsung and fellow Chinese company Huawei. The company's latest flagship model, the OnePlus 7, is well-received by both critics and users.

The OnePlus 7 has an interesting set of specs. However, it does not necessarily stand out on top of the rest. It sits quite comfortably in the mid-range market, considering its price and specs.

The phone has a 6.41-inch display and supports Full HD+ resolution. At its heart is the Snapdragon 855 chipset. It has two configurations; one packs 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage space. The higher version has 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage space. While these are impressive on its own right, the fact that it does not support microSD means that storage expansion is not an option.

On the camera side, it packs a two-camera configuration for its rear main camera with a 48MP/5MP sensors. The front-facing camera has 16MP. OnePlus also ditched the headphone jack, a decision that has been received quite negatively by the community. The phone runs on Android 9.

While the OnePlus 7 does pack some serious hardware and software features, they are not impressive enough for it to challenge some serious challengers in its price point. Nevertheless, it is still a viable option for those who are looking for the Android experience but do not want to pay a hefty price. The phone also sports a shiny finish that gives it an authentic and classy look.

Another feature to note here is the phone's front-facing camera. OnePlus did some impressive effort when it comes to the screen's real-estate, and they were able to cut the bezel down to barely noticeable. However, the front-facing camera does create some distraction to an otherwise clean design. While it does not necessarily impact the overall user experience, it does have its impact when viewing videos in full screen or taking photos in the landscape.

While not exactly the best in the business, the phone's main camera setup does take decent quality photos, especially when the HDR mode is used. Videos are impressive as well.

Overall, the phone is decent enough to attract attention in the crowded mid-range smartphone market. For users who are looking for an affordable option to have the Android experience, OnePlus 7 is a viable option.
